Whitworth Health Science Building
Spokane, WA
Whitworth’s new 45,000 SF Health Sciences Building, located on the northern edge of campus and will house graduate programs for Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training. Key goals for this Design-Build project are to create a building to promote a culture of health and wellness at Whitworth, exhibiting it’s mission of Mind and Heart. The new facility will serve the broader community, with both internal and external users, and an integrated inter-professional learning environment among academic programs. The design intent is to create a symbolic and inspiring building, integrated into the surrounding landscape, fitting perfectly into its campus location, and recruiting students and faculty with a “wow” factor. Program spaces include a Musculoskeletal Lab, Rehab Lab, Activities of Daily Living Lab with various mock household areas, Neurological and Pediatrics Lab, Master of Science in Athletic Training Lab/Classroom, Anatomy Lab, Human Performance Lab, and Motion Lab. The building also features clinical/simulation spaces, research space, offices, and support spaces. Other design considerations are to incorporate flexibility in use and opportunities for future growth. This project is set to be complete July 2022.
